✨ Fat is beautiful. Fat is round and soft and cute and smooth.

πŸ’ͺ Fat is strong. Fat is lifting and carrying and muscles and weight.

🌱 Fat is natural. Your body wants to be this size.

Fat is not ugly. Not unhealthy. Not shameful.

Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

If you are thin and reading this has overwhelmed you with the urge to tell me I'm wrong

Please first read this article: highline.huffingtonpost.com/ar

And then whether you agree or not, don't bother to tell me.

@vicorva@social.scribblers.club yes. I used to be skinny now I'm plus size and the difference in the way my doctor treats me is... Yeah.

Fatphobia, doctors

@nuhn My doctors didn't give a shit when I was super underweight starving myself on sugar free drinks and imperial mints because underweight is good in their eyes. Now I'm fat, fairly fit, and healthy, and the solution to every problem is to lose weight.

@vicorva I am one of those people who has worried unnecessarily for decades that I am fat. Reading this won't cure my body anxiety. But it is making me so mad I'm shaking at the background radiation of society that has always told me to lose weight as if it were a cure-all, when I could have been focusing on specific personal health issues instead of feeling guilty every time I ate ice cream.

@vicorva my weight went UP while I was exercising regularly last year, but I still looked and felt better than I had since college when I had to climb hills to get to my classes. If that doesn't mean something I don't know what does.

Also shoutout to @Canageek for insisting I was beautiful until I started to believe it.

@DialMforMara I'm so sorry that you have experienced this. Honestly that's one of the most awful things about fatphobia -- it hurts *everyone*, even thin people. I'm so sorry this has negatively impacted not just your body image but also your health.

I know *very well* how hard this thinking is to shake -- I was underweight most of my life for a similar reason. But for what it's worth, I am very aware now that your body will be the size it will be. You might as well love it πŸ’™

.@vicorva this article is infuriating and sad and necessary but also this name is the greatest thing I've seen in a while

"Cat PausΓ©, a researcher at Massey University in New Zealand"

I can't help but pronounce it Cat Paws and I know that's wrong but dang, so fun

@MmeLibertine This is the best comment on this article. I had the same reaction! XD

@vicorva I love this article. I always try to read it again when it comes by on any timeline

@maloki Same. It gave context for so much and solidified my determination to love my body, something I found very hard to do.
